Unfortunately, there is no single solution
to all paraffin problems. However, there are several new,
innovative products on the market today that can eliminate or control paraffin. We will discuss several of
these products below.
Some of these products were not developed to treat paraffin but, as a
side benefit, do a very good job.
MAGNETIC FLUID CONDITIONERS.

One of these new solutions is
Magnetic Fluid Conditioners. Some of these products are very successful
in treating paraffin and mineral scale problems in oilwell
fluids. We manufacture three types of these products:
The
first type, our Mark I, Mark II and Mark III
models, are very sophisticated downhole tools utilizing either ceramic
or very powerful rare earth magnets assembled into high tensile pipe
sections that can be made a part of the tubing string, or mounted at
the bottom of the production string.
The second type, our "Pumpmaster"
series, was developed as an economical solution to deposition in wells
produced by pumping units. These low cost units are made of
stainless steel and are screwed onto the bottom of the pump and are
sized to fit through conventional seating nipples. It is not
necessary to pull the tubing string, as these tools can be installed
when the pump and the rods are pulled to change out the pump.
All of these downhole tools are very successful in treating scale in
almost all types of situations. We also manufacture tools to
treat oilwell flow lines and all types of industrial process lines.
ROTATING TUBING HANGER & TUBING
ANCHOR. (For details click here)
One of the most effective and
economical paraffin control devices is the well head tubing rotator,
which was not originally intended to deal with paraffin and scale. This device is probably the most important product for
the pumping well producer to be introduced in this decade. It
solves one of the most serious problems of a pumping well, the wear
and replacement of production tubing caused by the millions of up and
down strokes of the sucker rods cutting grooves through the
tubing. Since the tubing can now be rotated one revolution per
day, the tubing wear is distributed evenly on the entire inner
diameter of the tubing, increasing the life of the tubing and
resulting additional savings. A side benefit of this is the constant
wiping of the inner surface of the tubing keeping it cleaned of
paraffin and mineral scale.
PLUNGER LIFT SYSTEMS. (For

Another, more efficient way to produce
gas-lift wells utilizing the same energy source is the plunger lift
system. It will produce the oil much more efficiently due to the
plunger carrying all of the oil up and not allowing a large percentage
of the oil to run back down the sides of the tubing due to the column
of gas breaking through the column of oil. It is estimated that
up to 75% of the fluid is "fallback" fluid in gas-lift
produced wells. Due to the cooling effect of the gas bubbling up
through the fluid and the cooler temperatures at the higher levels,
the gas-lift systems actually contributes to and exacerbates the
problem of paraffin and mineral scale in these wells. Because
this is a solid plunger under the column of oil and is being propelled
by the column of gas beneath, it is also scraping the entire inner
wall of the tubing and preventing the accumulation of paraffin and
mineral scale.
AUTOMATIC CHEMICAL TREATING UNITS.
If chemical treatment is still the best
solution, plus the fact that you must use corrosion inhibitors or
other types of chemicals, then there are now very sophisticated
computerized wellsite systems that can not only regulate the injection
of the correct amount of treatment on a regular, or irregular basis,
but it can also handle more than one type of chemical simultaneously
on differing schedules. These dependable systems will
dramatically reduce your chemical treatment costs by treating each
problem independently at the correct time and frequency. They also
reduce the amount of chemicals used to a bare minimum.
BALL VALVE PIG LAUNCHERS. (For

When we encounter scale buildup in flow
lines that will not respond to our Magnetic Fluid Conditioners, we can
then utilize these new, innovative ball valves. They are designed
specifically to allow the launching of spherical pigs through lines
from 2" to 6". These unique valves can be produced
with a "magazine" to accommodate preloading from two to
twelve pigs for daily manual on automatic launch to keep the flow
lines
clear. If recovery of the pig is important , a second valve can
be placed near the storage tank for recovery and reuse. Or, for
a more economical and automatic system, soluble dissolving pigs can be
used and allowed to pass into the tank for eventual destruction by the
oil. |
