Pig Ball Valve.
The Pig Ball Valve is designed to launch and receive spherical pigs through flow lines to keep them clear of all types of materials such as paraffin and mineral salts.
The Pig Ball Valve comes in two different designs, the BY-PASS style and the SHUT-OFF style.
The Bypass Pigging Valve has been developed to provide spherical pig launching and receiving operation with minimal operations, in a safe and convenient manner. The valve pig chamber is isolated from the flow line in the normal position by the ball and seat. This seating configuration and flow cavity around the exterior of the ball provides the feature of the valve reducing the flow capacity but not shutting off the flow line totally during injection or receiving operation.
This valve design also allows for loading or unloading of the pig chamber while the valve is in the normal flowing position. This feature minimizes
the time the valve is in the flow restrictive launching or receiving position.
The bypass style provides continuous flowing in all valve positions by isolating the launching chamber from the flow line and not closing in the flow line. This style is utilized where the flow or pumps cannot be interrupted during the pigging operation. The bypass is integral in the valve body and provides 35% flow capacity to minimize pressure drops during the pigging operation.
The Shut-Off Pigging Valve is utilized to launch and receive spherical pigs with minimal operation while providing the dual function of working as a Ball Valve to provide shut-off.
The valve body and pig chamber is isolated from the flow line in the shut-off position by both
the upstream and downstream seat. This seating configuration shuts off the flow line completely during the pig loading or unloading operation.
The Shut-Off style valve utilizes seats inline with the flow path providing a double block and bleed function to isolate the flow line and eliminate the requirement for additional shut-off valves. The valve isolates the body cavity and pig chamber from the flow media in both the flowing and pig loading operation. |
